We decided to make the
most of our last night in Bangkok. Instead of just going home following our
arrival in Bangkok, we made the trek to the other side of the river to go see Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn). Built in the reign of King Rama II it is
incredibly intricate and strikingly beautiful.
We made the steep climb up two flights of stairs to enjoy a nearly 360
degree view of the city. This climb too
required angling our feet to fit down the very narrow and very steep one way
stairs. Unfortunately we ran into a poor
European gentleman who made it to the top, but was paralyzed with fear and
could not make it back down...sure hope they could sedate him or something,
otherwise he still might be up there!
Here is one of the smaller towers in the complex that has been recently renovated...so white and clean!
not renovated vs renovated:
So beautiful and intricate! Do you know how long it took to construct them?
